Pomniki Paryskie to wystawa, na której zobaczymy cykl obrazów inspirowanych rzeźbami, tymi które na co dzień zdobią stolicę Francji. Początkowo prace Roszczaka atmosferą nawiązywały do aury miasta znanego z wolności artystycznej, miały budzić zadumę nad przemijalnością życia, jakie od dekad toczy się wśród wspaniałych kompozycji rzeźbiarskich, prezentowanych w przestrzeni Paryża. Jednak istotną cezurą w rozwoju cyklu stały się zamachy terrorystyczne z 2015. Wobec przemocy wymierzonej w przypadkowych ludzi, artysta zdecydował się zmienić wymowę swoich prac, oddając tym samym hołd niewinnym ofiarom. Wcześniejsze jasne barwy ustąpiły mrokowi, a gładkie dotąd tło ogarnął niepokojący nastrój potężnej burzy, nadając płótnom nowego wymiaru.

Informacje, które media przekazywały podczas ataków terrorystycznych bardzo na mnie wpłynęły, to co się działo w Paryżu było wstrząsające. Duch miasta znanego z wolności artystycznej i cyganerii przeniknął strachem. Przestrzeń, ta w której żyli i tworzyli tak wspaniali artyści jak; Picasso, Léger, Matisse czy Braque uległa w moim wyobrażeniu przemianie, jakiemuś pęknięciu. Nie potrafiłem dłużej patrzeć na namalowane obrazy z cyklu Pomniki Paryskie tak samo jak wcześniej, dlatego musiałem je zmienić. Te bardzo smutne wydarzenia to spowodowały. – Andrzej Roszczak

Paris Monuments est une exposition où l'on peut voir une série de peintures inspirées par les sculptures qui décorent la capitale francaise au quotidien. A l'origine, l'œuvre de Roszczak se réfère à l'aura de la ville connue pour sa liberté artistique, pour inspirer la réflexion sur le transitoire de la vie, qui se perpétue depuis des décennies parmi les merveilleuses compositions sculpturales présentées dans l'espace parisien. Cependant, la césure significative dans le développement du cycle a été les attentats terroristes de 2015. Face à la violence aveugle, l'artiste a décidé de changer le ton de son travail, en rendant hommage aux victimes innocentes. Les couleurs vives précédentes ont cédé la place à l'obscurité, et le fond lisse se retouve submergé par l'humeur troublante de la puissante tempête, donnant à la toile une nouvelle dimension.

Les informations véhiculées par les médias lors des attaques terroristes m'ont beaucoup influencé, ce qui s'est passé à Paris était choquant. L'esprit de la ville connu pour sa liberté artistique et sa bohème a été pénétré par la peur. L'espace dans lequel ont vécu et créé des artistes aussi merveilleux que Picasso, Léger, Matisse ou Braque a changé dans mon imagination. Je ne pouvais plus regarder les tableaux peints de la série des Monuments de Paris comme auparavant, je devais donc les changer. C'est la tristesse de ces événements qui ont causé cela. - Andrzej Roszczak

Paris Monuments is the exhibition where you will see a series of paintings inspired by sculptures, those that decorate the capital of France on day to day basis. Originally, Roszczak's works referred to the aura of the city known for its artistic freedom and were to awaken melancholy thought on the transitoriness of life, which for decades was indigenous to the wonderful sculptural compositions presented in the habitat of Paris.

However, a significant caesura in the creation of the series was the terrorist attacks of 2015. In the face of violence directed at random people, the artist decided to change the message of his work, paying homage to the innocent victims. The previous bright colors gave way to the darkness, and the smooth background was overwhelmed by the disturbing mood of the mighty storm, giving the canvas a new dimension.

The information that media conveyed during the terrorist attacks influenced me very much, what happened in Paris was shocking. The spirit of the city known for its artistic freedom and bohemianism has been penetrated with fear. The habitat where such wonderful artists as; Picasso, Léger, Matisse or Braque had lived and created, was changed in my imagination, something was spilled out.  

I could no longer look at the Paris Monuments series like before, so I had to change them. These very sad events have caused this. - Andrzej Roszczak
